Atkins Diet Center (often pronounced Adkins Diet Center)

Traditionally, the "best practise" diets are based on keeping calories low, and possibly reducing fats.

The entrance of Dr Atkins into the diet industry was set to leave a permanent mark on dieters forever.  In particular, his approach concentrated on a low carbohydrate diet.

An Atkins Diet Center (or Adkins Diet Center) bases its philosophy on a mechanism through which fats are stored in the body.  When your body's blood is rich in glucose, the pancreas secretes insulin, to acts as a bio messenger and causes the fat cells to begin storing the glucose from the blood.

The low carb diet attempts to control that mechanism, by keeping the blood sugar level as low as possible, and hence helping reduce the insulin triggering mechanism.

Starchy carbohydrates like potatoes, most sugary foods, and pastas etc are banned outright, and instead, the diet encourages the eating of high protein, higher fat foods.

Dieting and Your Health

Most dieticians agree that while the low carb diet may have some uses, the problem can be in the way it affects your health.  Diets high in fat can have serious affects on your heart, and may lead to other health complications.  For this reason, a high fat / low carb approach is generally considered not to be in best interest of your longer term health.

Taking a Flexible Approach to Dieting

However, there is still currently much heated debate over whether a low-fat or low-carb approach to dieting brings the quickest and best results.  Slim for Life is actually the only program that gives you the flexibility to use both.  How?  Well, Slim for Life take a much more flexible approach to dieting, and works in either a low-fat or a low-carb form.  It's this flexibility that had allowed Slim for Life to become one of the most popular diets.
