Atkins Diet Center
An Atkins diet center, like a number of other weight loss centers, are
based on the premise that limiting your carbohydrate intake produces
weight loss.
While this theory has never been successfully proven by mainstream
medicine, it hasn't stopped the Atkins diet center and others promoting
the theory.
The Low Carbohydrate Atkins Diet Center Theory
The Atkins diet center diet theory is based on reducing carbohydrate
intake to a depleted level. Carbohydrate rich foods such as breads,
potatoes, and pastas are out, whereas low carbohydrate foods such as
meats, butter, and eggs are in. Essentially, it is a low
carbohydrate, high protein, high fat approach to eating.
The History of the Atkins Diet Center Theory
Robert Atkins was a cardiologist who propounded his theory on strictly
limiting carbohydrates, back in the 70s. When he first published
his ideas, he endured ridicule by mainstream medicine. This
skepticism has followed him until today.
Atkins was also brought before a senate committee to explain his actions.
Where is the Atkins Diet Center Theory Today?
Mainstream dieticians and medicine still don't support his ideas.
However, his teachings have gained considerable popularity in recent
years, and can be seen in various places as the underlying basis for some
diet programs.
