Calculate Food Calories

When wanting to lose weight, it's important to calculate the food calories contained in your diet each day.  Tracking your calorific intake will allow you to make adjustments before those excess calories become excess pounds.

To calculate food calories you first need to keep a running list of everything that you consume, include beverages, sauces where the sauce contains a significant levels of calories, and of course, the actual foods you eat.  At the end of each day, plug in the number of calories contained in each food to calculate your total calories for the day.

But in order to accurately calculate food calories and reap the benefits of calorie budgeting, requires you to know the number of calories in each food.  Calorie values for a sample of foods can be found on Weight Loss International, or for an exhaustive list, join Slim for Life where you'll have access to a fully searchable database.

In a similar way, you can calculate the number of grams of fat, carbohydrates, or protein contained in the food you eat.  In this way, you can keep tabs on the overall health of your diet.

You may also want to record the amount of energy in calories that you expend in exercise, if fitness makes up a part of your day.  Here, the type of physical exercise plus the duration, will determine the total number of calories used.
