Sugar Busters
The Sugar Busters diet is one that espouses a high fat, high protein, low
carbohydrate approach to weight loss. Hence, it is similar to the
Atkins diet.
What are the Basic Principles of Sugar Busters
Sugar Busters believe that the so called root of all evil for weight gain
is the carbohydrate. Their theory is cut the carbs out of your
diet, and you'll lose weight. They strongly disagree with the
tenets behind low-fat diets. They recommend higher fat foods, since
low fat foods usually contain a greater percentage of carbohydrates.
Are their and Problems with the Sugar Busters Approach?
Unfortunately, virtually all doctors agree that a high fat, low
carbohydrate diet is a recipe for disaster.
-
High fat diets significantly increase the risk factors of heart attacks
and coronary disease
-
High fat diets tend to contain little or no fiber, and so a significant
risk to bowl cancer exists
-
Low carbohydrate diets avoid fruits and vegetables, but our fresh foods
are our source of anti-oxidants - the #1 form of protection against all
forms of cancer. Hence, low carbohydrate diets do increase the risk
of all cancers
Have their been any Official Warnings about Low Carbohydrate Diets?
The government of some states have publicly stated that their are
significant risks to high fat, low carbohydrate diets. These
include all of the risk factors stated above. The safety of certain
diets is no longer a matter of speculation, as governments have had to
step into the arena and issue stern, health, warnings.
